How do I sign up for the client portal?
There are a couple of different ways you can receive a client portal request.
First, you can give us a call at (248) 332-6658, and let us know that you are interested in uploading your tax documents to us by using the client portal. We will then send you an email that will get you all signed up for the portal.
Another option is to click on the “Request Portal” button below. After filling out your information, you will receive an emailed invite to the portal.
How do I upload my tax documents to the client portal?
Login to your client portal account by clicking the green “client portal login” button found on all pages of the Amtax website. Once you are logged in, you will click the “upload files” button, or if you are on a tablet or mobile, click the “+” button, and then click on upload files. You then can select files from your computer or mobile device that you want to upload. It does not matter which folder you upload them to as long as you are logged into your account.
Do you still prepare taxes in-person?
We no longer are doing taxes in front of the client. However, we are offering a same day drop off and completion within 2 hours of dropping your documents off, as long as you have scheduled to do so!
If you really feel like you need to talk with your tax preparer, or have a couple of questions relating to your tax returns, we do offer a 15 minute sit down to go over anything you may want to ask. This also requires you to schedule an appointment.

Taxes for an individual 1040 Tax Return are due on Tuesday April 18th, 2023. However, you can file an extension so that you are not charged a late filing fee if you are filing late.
How much does it cost to get our taxes prepared?
our new clients with a simple tax return (meaning no businesses, rentals, and other things) start off at $250. if your return is more complex, we will give you a quote before we start working on your returns.
How does an extension work?
if you decide that you want to extend your tax return due date, you will have to do so before the normal due date of April 18th, 2023. If you do this, it will waive the late filing fee for not filing your taxes on time. An extension does NOT protect you from balance due interest, so if you owe any money on your tax returns you will still have to pay interest on your balance due based on the initial April 18th, 2023 due date.

The IRS has said that emailing documents is no longer safe, and using a client portal is the safest way to upload documents securely.

The best way to get an idea of what documents to bring in is by looking at your prior year Tax Return. the documents that you provided the year prior will give you a good idea of what to bring in.
